Moms are More Active on Social Media

A recent survey by Experian shows that the largest, most engaging social media demographic may be one that will surprise you – or maybe it won’t.

Apparently this social group is young moms with young children – in particular, mothers of children 5 years old or younger who are somewhere between 25 years old and 35 years old. Those who engage with this demographic may find that this isn’t much of a surprise, as – statistically speaking – this demographic logs into and comments on social media sites twice as often as the general public does.
That’s a significant increase over the average user, and understanding how to appeal to, market to, and engage with this demographic could be a key to building a strong social media presence. This is an interesting statistic either way, as the decline in teen usage on Facebook (this group’s most commonly used social media company) coincides with a shift toward more mature users.
