Twitter’s IPO

The social media outlet that began based on SMS messaging limitations in 2006 has grown to be a major force on the internet and in the social media world – and today made its presence felt finally in the stock market with its IPO.

Settling now around an 80% increase to its initial stock value, Twitter is making a big splash with initial investors willing to take a risk on them. Much the same way, most of today’s biggest brands began taking their own sorts of risks with Twitter accounts a few years ago before they really knew what they were getting into.
To celebrate Twitter’s IPO, we’ve compiled a list of our 20 favorite first-ever tweets from some of the most recognizable brands in the world. Some are good, some are definitely not – but one thing is for certain: they’ve only gotten better in time as they figure out exactly what the whole Twitter thing is all about.
