Instagram has released Ads like Facebook

After announcing in early October that they would begin featuring sponsored ads on users’ feeds, Instagram has released the first look at the types of ads users can expect to see.

Instagram is following suit with the type of higher-fee feed ads Facebook started, and could be paving the way for yet another new ad type that would be featured on both Instagram Ads and, if things go well, Facebook feeds. After starting up the sponsored image ads, the photo and video sharing medium will also begin displaying sponsored video ads in the foreseeable future. If users don’t respond negatively, we should see the same in Facebook.

These changes should start taking effect in the feeds of US users soon. Users will be able to have some control over the ads they see by being able to report which they like and which they don’t, helping advertisers target more specific audiences.
